Our Governing Board
Message from the Chair of the Governing Board
Welcome to The Barham and Preston Park Federation
On behalf of the newly established Federated Governing Board, I am delighted to welcome you to the start of our exciting new journey.
From September, Barham Primary School and Preston Park Primary School have formally come together in federation. This inspiring step forward builds on the strong partnership already in place, enabling us to share expertise, broaden opportunities for children, and strengthen the support available for staff and families alike.
Our vision is simple: Stronger Schools, Brighter Futures. By working as one federation, we can ensure that every child benefits from the very best teaching, care, and enrichment opportunities that both schools have to offer.
Our schools are at the heart of the community, and this federation has been shaped with that in mind. Families can expect continuity, stability, and ambition for every child, while staff will continue to be supported to grow professionally and deliver the highest standards of education.
I would like to thank everyone—staff, parents, governors, and pupils—who contributed their thoughts and feedback during the consultation process. Your input has been invaluable in shaping the direction of this federation. In response, we will be publishing a Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Plan, built on the ideas and feedback gathered through the consultation, to guide how we work together and shape the future of our schools.
We look forward to building on the strengths of both schools, celebrating their individuality, and realising the benefits of working together as one community.
Thank you for your continued support. We are confident that this federation will help us to deliver on our shared commitment: ensuring that every child has the very best chance to thrive, today and for the future.
It is a privilege to have you as part of our vibrant school community, and we look forward to working together to support your child’s learning and development.
With warm regards,
Daksha Thanki

Parent Governors are elected by parents of children at the school;
Staff Governors: members of the school staff - elected by the staff;
Authority Governors (previously known as LEA Governors): nominated by the Local Authority;
Community Governors and Associate Governors: members of the local community (appointed by the rest of the governing body);
Contacting the Governors
The normal channels for parent consultation with school are through the Headteacher or their representative, although in most cases parents should contact the class teacher or year group leader in the first instance. Governors can make themselves available for consultation with parents if required but it is normally advisable to ensure that matters requiring the attention of the governors are first taken up through normal channels within the school.
