Maths Week London
Latest News - Maths Week London 2020 - Monday 22nd June to Friday 26th June
As part of our commitment to make mathematics exciting and high profile in our school, we are participating in Maths Week London from Monday 22nd June - Friday 26th June. Maths Week London is a capital-wide project designed to improve attitudes towards mathematics and build children’s confidence.
Mathematics learning for this week will primarily be accessed from the Sumdog platform. Teachers will signpost the website and the tasks on their daily PowerPoints for this week.
The questions and games combine questions from the National Curriculum and match the objectives for each child’s year group. Pupils are to answer questions as accurately as they can during the Contest week. The class with the highest average number of correct answers wins! There is a limit of 1,000 questions and teachers will select tasks for pupils to complete each day. The Maths Week London Contest looks to engage pupils learning at home as they can work together as a class to become London’s champions.
Sumdog can be accessed on a computer, mobile or tablet. Go to www.sumdog.com or download the free Sumdog app on Apple or Android. You can also keep track of what your child is learning by creating your own account, where you can play the games alongside your child and encourage them along the way. Sign up for your free account at www.sumdog.com/parents.
To coincide with Maths Week London, the creators ofTimes Table Rock Stars are running a Rock Out competition exclusive to schools in London. For every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, pupils will earn their class a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average. All game modes (Gig, Garage, Studio, etc.) will count but only from games played between 14:00 and 19:00 on Monday 22nd June – Friday 26th June. The competition will be accessible online via play.ttrockstars.com.
